SCHENIKOV MIXAIL VASILEVICH
major, participant in World War II, Hero of the Soviet Union (June 27, 1945)
He was born on September 1 (14), 1913, in the village of Chernijnine, Suzdal district, Vladimir region, in a peasant family. Russian. Graduated from 6th grade. He worked at the Krasnaya Zarya plant in Moscow.
In the Red Army since 1934. In 1937 he graduated from the military school named after the All-Russian Central Executive Committee. In 1942 he graduated from the accelerated emergency course of the Military Academy named after MV Frunya.
From June 1941, during World War II, he was the commander of the 3rd Guards Tank Army of the 1st Ukrainian Front, the 6th Guards Tank Division, and the 53rd Guards Tank Brigade of the Motorized Rifle Battalion.
He fought valiantly on the outskirts of the German capital, Berlin. On April 20, 1945, he secretly assembled a battalion near Beirut, the enemy unexpectedly broke into the city center, and on that day the city was completely cleared of the enemy. A number of other Germans are working with courage and determination to capture the settlements.
By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 27, 1945, Major Mikhail Schenikov “For exemplary performance of the command’s combat missions, courage and heroism in the fight against the Nazi invaders on the front”.
He lived in Tashkent. He worked as the head of the personnel department of the mobile mechanized convoy. He died on November 4, 1994.
