He was born on August 19, 1907 in the village of Novotroitsk in the Buzuluk district of the present-day Orenburg region in a working class family. Russian. Brought in an orphanage since the age of 11.
He served in the Red Army from 1929-1932. He later lived and worked in Uzbekistan.
In 1938 he graduated from the course of chief accountants in Tashkent. He worked as a chief accountant of the river port in Termez, Surkhandarya region.
In the early years of the war he lived and worked in Nizhny Tagil (Sverdlovsk region).
In February 1943 he was drafted into the army by the Nizhny Tagil military commissariat. By the summer of 1944, he had served as a group commander in the 368th Special Army Punishment Route (13th Army, 1st Belorussian Front). He fought on the punitive route until the end of the war.
On June 22-24, 1944, he received his first military award, the Medal for Courage, for his bravery. On July 17-22, 1944, during the Lvov-Sandomir offensive, the punitive route fought on the offensive ground of the 172nd Infantry Division. In these battles, Senior Sergeant Tkachev proved to be a brave and resourceful group commander, destroying 11 Nazi soldiers and 1 officer with his personal weapon.
He was awarded the Order of Glory of the III degree. In August 1944, in a battle to expand the Sandomierz platsdarm in the Vlastuv area to break through the enemy’s defenses, senior sergeant Tkachev was the first to advance with his group, attacking 4 enemy houses and destroying them all. Continuing the attack, he and his group entered the center of the village, repulsed the enemy’s counterattack 8 times, destroying about 30 enemy soldiers.
Presented for the Order of the Red Star, but the documents remain at the headquarters of the 295th Infantry Division and are signed only six months later. During this time, the Punishment Company was again active in the 287th Infantry Division’s defenses. On September 15, 1944, in the territory of Ukraine (southeast of Opatow, Svitokritskie Vivodechnika, Poland), Senior Sergeant Tkachev took part in reconnaissance in a group of 10 people. He was one of the first to enter the enemy’s territory, open fire and help the German troops to capture the century. The group returns with 4 captives, including 1 officer, with no casualties. By the orders of the 13th Army Troops of September 30, 1944 (for the battles of July 1944) and the 287th Rifle Division of October 19, 1944, Senior Sergeant Tkachev Alexander Illarionovich was awarded the Order of Glory III degree awarded.
By order of the 13th Army on March 14, 1944, Senior Sergeant Tkachev Alexander Illarionovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the II degree (for the battles of August 1944). In the final stages of the war, Sergeant Tkachev took part in a Berlin offensive operation, as part of a punitive company.
During the battles of April 21-23, 1945, he destroyed the artillery, killed about 15 Nazis, and captured seven. He was awarded the Order of the Red Star. In October 1945, Sergeant Tkachev was released from the reserve. He returned to Uzbekistan.
By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 19, 1944, he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union “For exemplary performance of the command’s combat missions in the fight against the Nazi invaders on the front, and for the courage and heroism shown”.
He was awarded all the Orders of Glory. He lived in Denau, Surkhandarya region.
He died on March 10, 1976.
