NIKIFOROV KONSTANTIN STEPANOVICH
lieutenant colonel, participant of the Second World War, Hero of the Soviet Union (June 29, 1945)
He was born on July 3, 1916 in Krasnoyarsk. He graduated from the third year of Tashkent State University. In 1939, Nikiforov was drafted into the Red Army by the Tashkent Military Commissariat. In 1940 he graduated from the Kiev School of Military Aviation Pilots. Participated in the battles of World War II.
Until April 1945, Senior Lieutenant Konstantin Nikiforov was Deputy Commander of the 208th Assault Aviation Regiment of the 227th Aviation Division of the 8th Attack Aviation Corps of the 4th Front of Ukraine.
Performs more than 100 combat flights to destroy enemy military equipment and manpower (for this service was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union), resulting in: 19 tanks, soldiers and cargo – 53 trucks, 11 armored vehicles , Destroyed 7 aircraft, 14 mortars, 17 anti-aircraft artillery points, 12 railroads and gongs, and up to 450 enemy soldiers and officers.
By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 29, 1945, Senior Lieutenant Konstantin Nikiforov was awarded the Hero of the Soviet Union “For exemplary performance of combat duties and bravery and heroism in the fight against Nazi invaders on the front.”
He lived and worked in Nikolaev. He died on November 13, 1987.
