KOSTIKOV FEDOR MIXAILOVICH
lieutenant colonel, participant in World War II Hero of the Soviet Union (15.05.1946)
He was born on February 23, 1920 in the village of Sergiyevskoye, Krapivensky district, Tula Region. He has lived in Moscow since 1931. In 1936 he graduated from the 8th grade of the school, in 1938 – from the 230-FZU factory school. He worked as a mechanic at the 6th plant in Moscow. In 1940 he graduated from the pilot club “Metrostroy”.
In the Red Army since 1941. In July 1941, he graduated from the Armavir Pilot Military Aviation School. He served in the Air Force (Far Eastern Front).
From April 1943 he served in World War II. He fought on the North Caucasus, South, 4th Ukrainian, 3rd and 1st Belorussian fronts. He took part in the liberation of Kuban, southern Ukraine, Crimea and Belarus, and in operations in the Vistula-Oder, Eastern Pomerania, and Berlin.
During the war, he flew 223 fighter jets on Yak-7, Yak-1 and Yak-9 fighter jets, and in 69 air battles he shot down 15 enemy planes personally and 9 as part of a group.
By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 15, 1946, lieutenant colonel Fedor Mikhailovich Kostikov was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union “”For exemplary performance of the command’s combat missions, courage and heroism in the fight against the Nazi invaders on the front”.
He served in the 73rd Air Force (Turkestan Military District): a senior officer in the operational department of the headquarters (1956-1959), an operational duty officer of the command post (1959-1960). In reserve since April 1960.
He died on October 25, 1995. He was buried in Vostryakovsky Cemetery in Moscow.
