Experienced sappers went behind them and destroyed the tanks. The regiment was soon attacked by heavy artillery, followed by air strikes and infantry. After a two-hour battle, Semikov’s regiment was able to defeat the enemy with the help of tankers of the 8th Guards Mechanized Corps of General I.F.Dryomov.
There were heavy casualties on both sides, and Lieutenant Colonel Semikov was injured. While Lieutenant Colonel Semikov was in the front battalion of the 1st Battalion, a bomb dropped from an enemy plane and exploded near him.
