KHABIYEV VILDAN SAIDOVICH

Sergeant, Participant of World War II, The Hero of the Soviet Union (October 30, 1943)

           He was born on September 10, 1924 in the village of the Middle Teryoshka, Starokulatkinsk district, Ulyanovsk region, in a peasant family. He was Tajik. He graduated from the 7^th grade of high school. He worked in a shoe factory in the village of Moscow (now Shahrihan) in the Andijan region of the Uzbek SSR.

          He was the commander of the mortar division of the 685^th Artillery Regiment of the 193^rd Red Bannered Division of the 65^th Army of the Central Front.

He fought in the Red Army from 1942, and from April 1943 in World War II. Sergeant Vildan Khabiyev, the commander of the mortar division of the 685^th Artillery Regiment of the 193^rd Red Bannered Division of the 65^th Army of the Central Front, crossed the Dnieper River as the part of the capture group in the village of Kamenka of Repkinskiy district of Chernigov region of Ukraine on October 15, 1943. The paratroopers captured the bridgehead on the right bank of the Dnieper and repulsed all enemy counterattacks.

By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 30, 1943, “For exemplary performance of combat duties, courage and heroism in the fight against Nazi invaders on the front”, Sergeant Khabiyev Vildan Saidovich was awarded the title of “The Hero of the Soviet Union”.

          He graduated from junior officer’s course in 1944 and became an officer.

He died heroically in battle on March 11, 1945.

There is a bust of Vildan Khabiyev in the park in Shahrihan, Andijan region, and a memorial plaque in the 5^th school.
