MAKORIN IVAN FEDOROVICH
Guards Sergeant, participant of the Second World War Hero of the Soviet Union (January 15, 1944)

   He was born on March 9, 1916 in the village of Gori (now Inder district, Atyrau region of Kazakhstan) in a working class family. Nationality – Russian.
   He graduated from elementary school. He worked as a mechanic on a fishing boat at a fishing factory in Uchsay village, Muynak district, Karakalpak Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic.
   In July 1942 he was drafted into the Red Army by the Military Commissariat of the Muynak District of the Karakalpak Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic and from September 1942 was a participant in World War II.
   On September 22, 1943, Sergeant Ivan Makhorin was the first to cross the Dnieper east of Chernobyl, Kiev region and firmly established on the right bank, allowing the whole unit to pass, provided fire to the enemy.
   By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of January 15, 1944, Sergeant Makhorin Ivan Fedorovich was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union “For heroism in the battles across the Dnieper.”
