KOZLOV NIKOLAY MIXAYLOVICH
Junior Lieutenant, Participant of World War II, The Hero of the Soviet Union (March 10, 1944)

He was born on December 12, 1926, in the village of Nefedkino in the Old Amanak district (a lost village in the Pokhvistnevsky district of the Samara region) in a family of Russian peasant.

In September 1942 he was drafted into the Red Army. He served in World War II as a tank commander of the 441st Tank Battalion of the 110th Tank Brigade (the 18th Tank Corps of the 5th Guards Tank Army the 2nd Ukrainian Front). He fought valiantly for the Dnieper.

He fought in the Kursk Strait, took part in the Korsun-Shevchenkovsky and Yasso-Kishinev operations, and defeated the enemy on the outskirts of Budapest.

On October 24, 1943, a tank was besieged near the town of Krivoy Rog. He fought against an enemy who was superior in strength for 8 hours. With the skillful and courageous actions of the tankers, they fired 5 wooden ground firing points (dzot), 1 anti-tank cannon, 4 armored vehicles, 30 vehicles with military cargo, 5 armored vehicles, 60 enemy soldiers were destroyed and their tank was removed from the siege.

By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 10, 1944, “For exemplary performance of combat duties, courage and heroism in the fight against Nazi invaders on the front”, Junior Lieutenant Kozlov Nikolay Mixaylovich was awarded the title of “The Hero of the Soviet Union”.

He died on September 25, 1983 and was buried in Krasnodar.
